Arab Artificial Intelligence Project

Fanar is an Arabic AI Large Language Model developed by the Qatar Computing Research Institute at Hamad Bin Khalifa University, a member of Qatar Foundation for Education, Science, and Community Development. It is sponsored by the Qatari government through the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology. Fanar bridges Arabic language and culture with the latest advancements in AI, aligning with Qatar National Vision 2030 and the objectives of the Digital Agenda 2030.

National Project

Fanar is a national project involving several institutions in Qatar. Fanar is developed by QCRI at Hamad Bin Khalifa University with full support from the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology in the forms of financial and organizational assistance. Partners support Fanar in various ways ranging from providing high-quality data, end-user testing, evaluation and benchmarking, and adoption in use cases.

The chatbot offers a rich experience interacting with Fanar in text, speech, and different Arabic dialects. It produces multi-modal outputs in the form of text, speech, or images.

Taleem

Taleem is a Fanar-powered teacher assistant designed to support educators in creating lesson material including summaries, questions, and multimedia material.

Newsroom

Akhbar AI is a Fanar-powered newsroom assistant that helps editors create content like content including news stories, interview plans, and visuals.

Allama

Allama is a helpful chatbot designd to answer questions about government processes in Qatar. By leveraging Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), Allama seamlessly integrates Fanar with external knowledge bases, delivering accurate, context-aware reponses.
